The Kimball junior varsity volleyball team ended the season with a non-conference win over Upsala Monday, Oct. 20. The Cubs started slowly in game one, allowing the Cardinals to stay in the game. Eventually, the Cubs would lose, 24-26. The game one loss served as a great wake-up call to the Cubs. In game two, the Cubs jumped out to an early lead, and sophomore Chelsey Lamm sealed the win by serving thirteen straight points. In game three, the Cubs needed to make some line-up changes which created initial confusion, but they figured it out. The Cubs held on to win game three, 17-15. Overall, the junior varsity team finished 9-6, with an impressive 3-0 run through the Kimball Invitational. Team members for the junior varsity included senior Bridget Gohmann, junior Maranda Theisen, sophomores Klarissa Eisenbraun, Heidi Lochen, and Chelsey Lamm, and freshmen Cora Gohmann, Rachel Arnold, Emily Donnay, and Maria Donnay. Freshman Stephanie Konz also played junior varsity for the last few weeks of the season due to illness and injury. The future of the Cubs volleyball program looks strong. Continued commitment and hard work will pay off in the future. Coaches are looking forward to 2009. We thank the parents and fans for all of their support this season.
