JV baseball drops season opener

The Kimball JV baseball team traveled to Maple Lake last Thursday to take on the Irish. Maple Lake jumped out to an early 5-0 lead in the first inning. The Cubs answered by scoring four runs in the second. The Cubs scored only one run in the last five innings as they fell to the Irish by a score of 10-5. The Cubs finished the game with six hits. Mitch Pramann, David Joseph, Ryan Young, Adrian Young, Stephan Kurkosky, and Ty Filzen each contributed a hit. Ryan Young scored two of the five Cub runs and Stephan Kurkosky had two of the Cub's four steals. Ty Filzen added two runs batted in and Adrian Young picked up two walks. On the mound for Kimball, David Joseph started and notched three strikeouts in two innings of work. He gave up seven runs with only three of them being earned and took the loss. Ty Filzen worked the other four innings picking up three strikeouts and giving up three earned runs. "For the first game of the season, I was very happy with our performance," noted Coach Klein.
