St. Anne's Church in Kimball would like to introduce the formation of a new and exciting group that aims to reach out and offer help and education to members of our community and our brothers and sisters throughout the world. The FACES (Faith and Awareness in the Community through Education and Service) committee wishes to make connections to those that might be interested in becoming a part of the committee or people that might be in need of the services that we can provide. The committee has adopted the following Mission Statement: "The mission of the FACES committee of St. Anne's parish is to seek change for those among us who are most vulnerable; to offer help to those who suffer from misfortune, poverty or loss; to see the face of Christ in all of our neighbors and to be the face of Christ for them, whether beside us or across the globe." The mission statement of FACES incorporates four areas that our committee will be focusing on including legislative advocacy ("seek change"), community organizing and direct service ("offer help") and global solidarity ("across the globe"). FACES has already begun to focus and work on these areas.
Legislative advocacy is extremely important. FACES understands the importance of being educated about political affairs, but also recognizes the difficulty that
many have when trying to grasp governmental issues. The committee will begin educating parishioners at St. Anne's and residents of the Kimball area not only about legislative matters, but also about the importance of making knowledgeable choices in the election year. It is essential that everyone understand where each of the candidates stand on the issues so that we can make informed decisions. The committee has also decided to begin working with Rural Stearns Faith in Action to provide help and assistance to those with difficult life situations and seniors living in and around Kimball. The services available through Faith in Action include transportation to appointments or to assist with errands or shopping, homemaking and chore assistance, home repair or modification, respite care for caregivers, caregiver coaching, friendly visiting, and service coordination. Should you be interested in lending your talents and becoming a volunteer with Faith in Action or should you feel that you might be in need of some services or know someone that could benefit from the services Faith in Action can provide, call Lindsey at (320) 685-3693. All services are provided by volunteers and donations are accepted. The committee has decided to bring back the service of offering St. Anne's parishioners the ability to have meals served during Wakes. This was a service previously provide in the parish and something that our program would like to reinstate due to the importance of supporting one another through grieving times. If you would like this service please contact the Parish Office. To become a part of world outreach the committee is looking at participating in the St. Cloud Mission Office's Homa Bay, Kenya Appeal. The people of Homa Bay continue to suffer from the havoc and hostility taking place in their country following the December elections. Many have died, and more have been displaced. Despite the governmental power-sharing agreement and reinstatement of peace in most areas, harsh realities continue to make the lives of those living in Homa Bay difficult. We are in the planning process of developing a fundraiser for this Appeal and are looking into a prayer service for the Homa Bay people. Our committee would like to reach out to other parishes in the Kimball area, as well as community members that might be interested in becoming apart of the FACES committee. If you feel that you might be interested in becoming apart of our effort or if you may be in need of assistance with any of the services our committee offers, call St. Anne's Parish at (320) 398-2211.
