In a special meeting held Tuesday night, April 15, the Maine Prairie Board of Supervisors voted to support the process of detachment of Sections 31-36 from the City of Rockville as initiated by a petition by several Rockville residents. About 50 individuals, mostly residents of Rockville or Maine Prairie, attended. A non-binding, show-of-hands vote by Maine Prairie residents indicated support of the petition. Another meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, at Rockville City Hall. The residents' petition is to the State of Minnesota, and involves those residents (in a six-square-mile area) and the City of Rockville. If those two parties cannot reach an agreement, the matter will go to mediation, and could ultimately be decided by an administrative law judge.
