The 2008 Meeker County 4-H Share the Fun & Performing Arts Day was held on Sunday afternoon, April 6, in the Theatre at ACGC Jr./Sr. High School in Grove City. Share The Fun is a time for kids to share fun skits with their peers and adults while performing for an audience. The purposes of Share The Fun include: building club rapport and unity, promoting 4-H, and providing recognition for the club. Many Meeker County 4-Hers had a great opportunity to share their talents. Along with the 4-H Ambassadors, participants included members from the following clubs: Danielson Hustlers, Dassel Lamplighters, Kimball Kruisers, Litchfield Satellites, North Star/Busy Bees, and the Valley Victors. Awards were as follows: Most Humorous, North Star/Busy Bees, "Tales of the 4-H Foodstand"; Most 4-H Spirit, Valley Victors, "4-H Knowledge Bowl"; Best Props, Litchfield Satellites, "Are You Smarter than a 4-H'er?"; third place, Danielson Hustlers, "Charlie & the Clover Factory"; second place, Dassel Lamplighters, "4-H Fairy Tale"; first place, Kimball Kruisers, "Look into the Past 4-H Style." As the first place winner, the Kimball Kruisers 4-H Club earned the opportunity to represent Meeker County 4-H at the 2008 Minnesota State Fair Share The Fun Showcase. Clubs will also perform their acts during the Share the Fun showcase at the Meeker County Fair. Performing Arts allows youth the opportunity to showcase their talents, build self-confidence, and have fun. Members participating will perform between Share the Fun acts. Performance will include: singing, guitar solos, a Tae Kwon Do Demonstration, a piano piece, and a wide variety of other musical instrument performances. Placings were as follows: Champion Grades 3-5, Mark Skuza, vocal "One Voice"; Reserve Champion Grades 3-5, Andi Schiefelbein, clarinet "Woodlake March"; Champion Grades 6-8, Chelsey Maus, flute "Govotte"; Reserve Champion Grades 6-8, Amelia Malling, speech "The Walrus & the Carpenter"; Champion Grades 9+, Elizabeth Cron, speech "The Cheerleader Meets the Goth"; Reserve Champion Grades 9+, Journey Jutz, bass guitar "Guitar Oreh"; and Cloverbud participants, Steven Skuza, Tae Kwon Do Demonstration. Other participants included: Jenna Maus, saxophone "Minuet"; Willy Leafblad, vocal "Danza, Danza, Fanciulla Gentile"; Travis Schiefelbein, baritone sax "Minuet"; Erik Malling, piano; Louis Olson, electric guitar "Great Balls of Fire"; and Nicole Krumrie, vocal "Who Will Buy".
