Grass fire in swamp

Sunday, April 8, at 3 p.m., the Meeker County Sheriff's Office received a call reporting that a swampy area located near 150th Street and 620th Avenue in Cedar Mills Township, was on fire. When the Litchfield Fire Department arrived,Êapproximately 200 acres ofÊswamp was totally engulfed with fire. The fire also spread into the groves of nearby farm places causing several trees to burn. The fire department was able to contain the fire and no structures were damaged. Nobody was injured as a result of this fire. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. The dryness and wind conditions made it difficult to put the fire out. It took the Litchfield Fire Department six hours toÊextinguish the fire. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife assisted the fire department with specialized equipment that could drive in the swampy areas.

April 3, Timothy James Lipponen, 27 of Maple Lake, was arrested in Maple Lake on a Wright County warrant for possession of stolen property.

April 4, James David Mansk,

26 of Annandale, was arrested in South Haven on the charge of fourth-degree burglary.

April 4, Joshua Ryan Ergen, 22 of Clearwater, was arrested in South Haven on the charge of fourth-degree burglary.

April 8, Carl Louis Drase, 49 of Naples, Fla., was arrested in Annandale on the charges of second-degree DWI and second-degree test refusal.

April 8, Nicholas Alden Anderson, 26 of Clearwater ,was arrested in Clearwater on a Wright County warrant for first-degree controlled substance violation.

There were 2 property-damage accidents, 1 personal-injury accident, 2 hit-and-run accidents, and no car-deer accidents.

There were 7 arrests for DWI,

7 underage-consumption arrests,

1 school bus stop-arm violation, and 59 tickets for miscellaneous traffic violations issued this week.

3:07 a.m. the Sheriff's Office took a report of a disturbance at a residence on Church Street, Watkins.

Sunday, April 8

12:03 a.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to a report of suspicious activity near a residence on 365th Street, Manannah Township. The deputies checked the area and found that the individuals had left prior to arrival.

1:19 a.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to a report of suspicious activity at a residence in the Watkins Trailer Park, Watkins. The deputy made contact with the homeowner and found all to be okay.

1:44 a.m. the Sheriff's Office took a report for a cellular 9-1-1 hang-up call and criminal damage to property occurring at a residence on 675th Avenue, Forest City Township.

2:00 a.m. the Sheriff's Office took a report of a person out of control at a residence on Kingston Street, Kingston Township.

2:45 p.m. the Sheriff's Office dispatched Watkins Ambulance per Stearns County Sheriff's Office for a medical at a residence on Calumet Road, Fair Haven. One individual was transported to the Buffalo Hospital.

2:59 p.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to and dispatched Litchfield Fire for a grass and swamp fire in the area of County State Aid Highway 18, Greenleaf and Cedar Mills Townships. The US Fish and Wildlife assisted on the scene. The fire was extinguished and a report was taken.

4:07 p.m. the Sheriff's Office advised an individual regarding a civil matter at a residence in the Watkins Trailer Park, Watkins.

7:03 p.m. the Sheriff's Office took a report of a hit-and-run accident occurring at a residence on State Street South, Eden Valley.

Saturday, April 7

2:52 a.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a noise complaint at a residence on Meeker Avenue North, Watkins. The deputy made contact with the homeowners who were advised of the complaint and given a warning.

2:02 p.m. the Sheriff's Office advised an individual regarding a civil matter that is occurring at a residence on Church Street, Watkins.

Friday, April 6

5:43 a.m. the Sheriff's Office took a report of a runaway from a residence on 315th Street, Forest City Township.

12:45 p.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to a 9-1-1 misdial call at a residence on Meeker Avenue West, Eden Valley. Everything was found to be fine.

8:43 p.m. the Sheriff's Office dispatched Eden Valley Rescue and Watkins Ambulance for a medical at a residence on Douglas Drive, Eden Valley. One individual was transported to St. Cloud Hospital.

10:41 p.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to a cellular 9-1-1 hang-up call in the area of County State Aid Highway 36, Manannah Township. The deputy checked the area and found all to be okay.

Thursday, April 5

8:17 a.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a domestic at a residence in the Watkins Trailer Park, Watkins. Upon arrival of the deputies Travis Richard Summerlet, age 24, Watkins, was arrested for domestic assault and terroristic threats.

10:55 a.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to a civil matter at Markwood Trucking, County State Aid Highway 34, Watkins. The individual was advised of his options.

4:40 p.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to a dog complaint at a residence in the Watkins Trailer Park, Watkins. Upon arrival of the deputy the dog was returned to its owner.

Wednesday, April 4

11:05 a.m. the Sheriff's Office took a report of illegal dumping on 375th Street and 587th Avenue, Manannah Township.

11:39 a.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to a request to unlock a vehicle on County State Aid Highway 21 near MN Highway 15, Kingston Township.

12:42 p.m. a Meeker County Sheriff's deputy came across a grass fire at a residence on County State Aid Highway 14, Darwin Township. Litchfield Fire was dispatched and later assisted by Dassel and Grove City Fire Departments. David Edward Dietel, age 44, Darwin, was cited for burning without a permit. Over 100 acres of swamp/grassland was burned.

12:43 p.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to and dispatched Watkins Ambulance to a medical at a residence on Western Avenue South, Watkins. One individual was transported to the

St. Cloud hospital.

4:27 p.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to an alarm at the Kingston Community Center, 722nd Avenue, Kingston. Upon arrival of the deputy everything was found to be fine.

5:03 p.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to and dispatched Watkins Ambulance to a report of suicidal threats at a residence on Luella Street, Watkins. One individual was transported to the

St. Cloud Hospital.

8:31 p.m. the Sheriff's Office took a report of a property damage accident on Cedar Avenue South, Watkins. No injuries were reported.

9:28 p.m. the Sheriff's Office received a report of unsafe conditions at the CentraSota tank site, 4th Street North, Watkins. A deputy responded and a worker was able to resolve the matter.

Tuesday, April 3

1:19 p.m. the Sheriff's Office received a report of suspicious activity on MN Highway 22 and 340th Street, Manannah Township. The deputy checked the area and the vehicle was no longer in the area.

5:28 p.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to and dispatched Watkins Ambulance to a medical at a residence in the Watkins Trailer Park, Watkins. One individual was transported by private vehicle.

6:16 p.m. the Sheriff's Office received a wallet found in the parking lot of Red Rooster Foods on 2nd Street North, Dassel. A deputy was able to make contact and return the wallet to the owner.

6:59 p.m. the Sheriff's Office assisted the MN State Patrol with a driving complaint that was westbound on MN Highway 55 traveling towards Watkins.

11:37 p.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to a report of suspicious vehicles at an address on Church Street, Watkins. The deputy found the vehicles had left the area and everything appeared to be okay.

Monday, April 2

7:48 a.m. the Sheriff's Office dispatched Eden Valley Rescue and Watkins Ambulance to a medical at a residence on Vail Street North, Eden Valley. One individual was transported to Meeker Memorial Hospital.

2:46 p.m. the Sheriff's Office took a report of theft from Heartthrob Exhaust on US Highway 12, Litchfield Township.

3:32 p.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to and dispatched Eden Valley Fire to a report of a grass fire at a residence on MN Highway 55, Manannah Township. The fire department assisted by extinguishing the fire.

7:00 p.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to a driving complaint northbound on MN Highway near 240th Street, Dassel. A deputy located the vehicle on MN Highway 15 in the City of Kimball and warned the driver.

7:59 p.m. the Sheriff's Office received a cellular 9-1-1 call from a party driving on MN Highway 15 reporting a fire south of MN Highway 15 along County State Aid Highway 17, Watkins. The party was advised the Watkins Fire Department was doing a controlled grass fire in that area.

11:40 p.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to an alarm at Mies Outland located on MN Highway 55, Watkins. Upon arrival deputies determined it was a false alarm and everything was okay.
