In order to recognize achievement, outstanding progress, and responsible behavior in our student body, grade-level teams made up of teachers select one Kimball Area High School student in each grade to be recognized as the Student of the Month. The monthly winners are recognized in school, on the school website, and in the Tri-County News. They also receive a Subway gift certificate and Chamber Bucks from the Kimball Area Chamber of Commerce. Special thanks to Luxemburg's Subway and the Kimball Chamber of Commerce for sponsoring this program. The following students are recognized for March 2012:
Grade 7-Anna Donnay
Anna has a great work ethic, consistently does well in school, and she is always smiling. She is willing to help other students, and she takes charge when working in a group. Anna often goes the extra mile, especially for band, by even participating in study hall.
Grade 8-Mitchell McKee
Mitch is a quiet leader here at KAHS. His leading by example has been very influential on his peers. Mitch makes sure that everyone is included and no one is left out. His teachers feel that is one of the exceptional qualities he possesses. Not only is he a self-advocate, but he also advocates for others. Mitch is a very hard worker who never lets his high level of involvement in extra-curricular activities hinder his achievements within the classroom.
Grade 9-Hannah Hendrickson
Hannah's strengths academically include organizing, problem solving, and understanding verbal direction. She is focused on doing the best she can without making excuses. Hannah works tirelessly on creating assignments and projects that go beyond expectations. She stands up for her beliefs, and she chooses her words carefully. She leads by example, and we appreciate the example she provides for her classmates.
Grade 10-Amy Jendro
Amy works very hard and puts forth a strong effect in her peers. She is inquisitive and advocates well for herself. Her positive personality and bright smile add a great addition to the classroom.
Grade 11-Torey Rohloff
Congratulations to Torey Rohloff for being named March's Student of the Month for 11th grade. Torey has made his education a priority. He works hard in the classroom individually and cooperatively. He has developed into a positive role model for younger students by choosing to be diligent and timely in his academics and athletics. Positive energy radiates from Torey. He is always smiling and pleasant to be around. Torey will take the time to have a polite conversation with anyone, including students and teachers. Torey is a super star here at Kimball, and we look forward to seeing his continued leadership and success.
Grade 12-Ashlyn Jendro
Ashlyn's perseverance and dedication to her academics are critical to her success at Kimball Area High School. She has struck a delicate balance between school, work, and extracurricular activities. She is driven to try new things and pushes herself beyond what others expect from her. Her diligence in completing her work before a family trip is evidence of her conscientious nature and something we admire in her. From dog sledding to triathlons and 5Ks, Ashlyn is always looking for opportunities to benefit herself and others. In life's great adventures to come, Ashlyn will be ready to conquer the challenges and enjoy the thrills.
