KAHS Band contests

The Kimball Area High School Band has had a very busy and successful last three weeks. Tuesday, March 13, the Concert Band performed at large group contest, earning a State Excellent rating, and having the opportunity to hear the bands from many other area schools. Following their winter concert the next week, 24 students represented Kimball in 16 events at Section Solo & Ensemble Contest on Monday, April 2. Fourteen of the events earned State Superior ratings (the top rating possible) and the other two earned State Excellent ratings. In addition, Shota Kuprava (guitar solo) and Chelsey Maus & Megan Jones (flute duet) earned "Best of Site" awards for their performances. The Best of Site goes to the top performer(s) in their site of 20 events and is the top award of the contest. Shota also had the rare distinction of earning his award with a perfect score in the judging. The following is a list of these outstanding performers and their events/awards:
