Fly America's flag on Veterans Day

Secretary of State Mark Ritchie encourages Minnesotans to fly our nation's flag on Veterans Day

Flag etiquette brochure available

Minnesota Secretary of State Mark Ritchie encouraged Minnesotans to honor veterans by flying our nation's flag on Veterans Day, Thursday, Nov. 11, and reminded them that the Office of the Secretary of State has a flag etiquette brochure available.

"On Veterans Day, we take time to reflect upon the bravery, sacrifice and spirit of public service demonstrated by our veterans," said Ritchie. "Flying our nation's flag in their honor on this special day is a visual reminder to our veterans that we care about them and understand that this enduring symbol of our freedom, and the democracy it represents, was defended by our friends, family and neighbors who have served in our armed forces."

Anyone who is interested in learning about the proper procedures for displaying the American flag should contact the Office of the Minnesota Secretary of State to obtain its flag etiquette brochure.
