CSB 'Book Lovers Night' features Elaine Davis

Elaine Davis, author of Minnesota 13, is the featured guest at the College of St. Benedict's "Book Lovers Night" Tuesday, Nov. 9, at the Alumnae Hall, Haehn Campus Center, CSB.

The doors open at 6:15 p.m., community members will recommend some favorite books at 6:45 p.m. and Davis will speak at 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Minnesota 13 is about Stearns County during the time of Prohibition -Minnesota 13 being the name of a bootleg whiskey widely recognized for its superior taste. Davis uses photographs, maps and real accounts to describe how locals came upon a seemingly perfect - and illegal - recipe and why it was successful.

The recommended books will be on sale at 20 percent off, and Davis will be signing copies of Minnesota 13 after the presentation. Snacks and beverages will be available at O'Connell's, also in the Haehn Campus Center.
