The Kimball football team traveled to Howard Lake Friday, Oct. 15, to take on the Lakers. The Cubs were trying to get that first win of the season. This night was not the night for the Cubs, as costly turnovers spoiled many promising drives for the Cubs. The Cubs' defense took the night off, as the Lakers could do whatever they wanted to do on offense. The Lakers took advantage of many mental mistakes on both defense and offense by the Cubs, to take a 32-0 lead into halftime. The Cubs did a better job in the second half to stop the Lakers, but still turned the ball over many times to stop themselves.
The offense was led by junior quarterback Aaron Laabs, who was 13-27 for 125 yards, but was intercepted three times. Sophomore wide receiver Preston Peglow had a good night with 10 catches for 98 yards. The running game was led by junior running back Danny Lochen. The offensive line for the second week in a row protected the quarterback very well. The defense was led by junior linebacker Travis Shiefelbein and senior lineman Mitch Pramann.
The Cubs have one last home game this Wednesday against B-B-E Jaguars. This will be the last home game for four seniors. The staff would like to thank these seniors for the hard work they have provided throughout their careers.
