Fatal accident near South Haven

At 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 3, the State Patrol was called to a head-on collision on Hwy. 55 at Wright Co. Rd. 3.

A Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Gary T. Moser, 48, of Crookston, was westbound on Hwy. 55. A Plymouth Voyager, driven by Debra J. King, 54, of Bloomington, was eastbound. The Voyager crossed the center line, according to the State Patrol, resulting in a head-on collision.

King was pronounced dead at the scene.

Moser was taken to St. Cloud Hospital with minor injuries. His passengers Ð Nancy J. Moser, 46, of Crookston, and Sharon K. Goldsmith, 67, of Lengby Ð were not injured.

Kimball family uninjured after I-94 crash

Julie M. Kopesky-Anderson, 46, of Kimball, and Bridget and Caleb Anderson, 12 and 14, were headed west on I-94 near Clearwater just after 7:30 Sunday evening. Their Buick LeSabre was rear-ended, the last of a five-vehicle crash that killed two and injured seven. The Andersons were not injured.

According to the State Patrol report, Westbound traffic on I-94 near Clearwater was slowed because of a car fire on the side of the road. A semi truck was unable to slow down enough and rear-ended a Volvo. Both the Volvo and the semi then struck a Chrysler. The Chrysler hit a Toyota Corolla which spun off and rear-ended the Buick.

The semi went off the road and jackknifed into the median cable barriers. The Volvo and Chrysler rolled into the north ditch, ending with the Chrysler on top of the Volvo.

The semi driver, David J. Dompleing, 56, of Orland Park, Ill., also was not injured.

Both the driver and one passenger of the Chrysler were pronounced dead at the scene: Thomas C. Williams, 78, of Sandwich, Ill., and Sophie A. Mitzel, 61. Another passenger, Patricia L. Wanner, 61, was taken to St. Cloud Hospital; the St. Cloud Times reported that she was in fair condition Monday.

The driver of the Volvo, Korene J. Schmitz, 22, of St. Cloud, sustained serious injuries. The Times reported that she was in serious condition Monday.

The Corolla driver and passengers Ð Blaine W Campbell, 30, of Bismarck, N.D., Joshua and Walter Lassonde, 22 and 25, were taken to the

St. Cloud Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

I-94 remained closed for six hours, opening early morning Monday.

Responded to verbal dispute at Oak Place Apartments (Kimball); female was asked to leave and police took her home to St. Cloud.

Responded to a call to help driver with keys locked in a vehicle at 155th Ave. and Co. Rd. 48.

Sept. 28, Brian Gregory Ogaard, 19, of Maple Lake was charged with felony possession stolen property.

Sept. 28, Wayne Michael Kutter, 49, of Clearwater was arrested in Rockford for drive after cancellation inimical to public safety.

Sept. 28, Michael John Hern, 56, of Maple Lake was arrested in Annandale on an apprehension and detention order from Wright county.

Sept. 29, Jaquel Charee Clark, 24, of Annandale was charged with gross misdemeanor forgery.

Sept. 30, Joseph Harrison Baynes, 22, of Annandale was arrested in Buffalo on Wright county warrants for issuance of worthless check, terroristic threats and a probation violation.

Oct. 1, Andrew Joseph Preusser, 49, of Annandale was arrested in Annandale on charges of 4th degree assault and disorderly conduct.

Meeker Co. Sheriff's report

Sunday, Oct. 3: 2:40 p.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to a report of suspicious activity on Cedar Ave., Watkins. A deputy located the individual and advised him to move on.

4:06 p.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to and dispatched Watkins Rescue and Watkins Ambulance to a medical on Church St., Watkins. One individual was transported to St. Cloud Hospital.

8:03 p.m. the Sheriff's Office assisted the Stearns County Sheriff's Office with a report of a driving complaint in the area of MN Hwy. 15, Kimball. The deputy located the vehicle and found all to be okay.

Saturday, Oct. 2: 3:23 p.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a driving complaint on CSAH 2, Watkins. A deputy searched the area and the vehicle was gone.

Friday Oct. 1: 1:34 p.m. the Sheriff's Office received a report of a driving complaint northbound on MN Hwy. 15 and 278th St., Kingston. The caller was transferred to the MN State Patrol.

8:52 p.m. the Sheriff's Office forwarded information to the Stearns County Sheriff Dept. regarding a report of unsafe conditions in the area of MN Hwy. 15, Kimball.

Thursday Sept. 30: 10:54 a.m. the Sheriff's Office dispatched Gold Cross Ambulance to a medical at the Hilltop Care Center on Luella St., Watkins. One individual was transported to St. Cloud Hospital.

12:32 p.m. the Sheriff's Office dispatched Watkins Ambulance to a medical in Stearns County on Spruce Ave. E., Kimball. One individual was transported to Paynesville Hospital.

6:58 p.m. the Sheriff's Office assisted the public at an address on Central Ave. S., Watkins.

8:15 p.m. the Sheriff's Office received a report of a civil issue on 4th St. N., Watkins. The deputies responded and a report was filed.

10:49 p.m. the Sheriff's Office received a report of a noise complaint from an address on 233rd St., South Haven. Upon the deputy's arrival all was quiet.

11:05 the Sheriff's Office per the request of Stearns County, dispatched Watkins Ambulance for a medical on Hazel Ave. E., Kimball. One individual was transported to St Cloud Hospital.

Wednesday Sept. 29: 9:39 a.m. the 11:24 a.m. the Sheriff's Office assisted the public at a residence on 298th St., South Haven. The deputy spoke to the individual and advised them of their options.

2:17 p.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to a request for a welfare check in the Watkins trailer park, Watkins.

6:45 p.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to an address on 350th St., Watkins, and issued a deer possession tag.

9:36 p.m. the Sheriff's Office received a report of juvenile trouble at an address on Central Ave. S., Watkins. The deputies responded and a report was filed.

11:27 p.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to and dispatched Litchfield Rescue and Watkins Ambulance for an occupied vehicle in the ditch on 330th St.,

Eden Valley. Upon arrival of deputies, Michael Leeman Crusoe, age 33, of Watkins, was arrested for DWI.

Tuesday Sept. 28: 12:54 a.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a driving complaint in the area of CSAH 27 and 745th Ave., Kimball. Upon the arrival of the deputy the vehicle was gone.

Monday, Sept. 27: 9:12 a.m. the Sheriff's Office received a report of graffiti to signs on CSAH 2, Watkins.

1:51 p.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to a report of unsafe conditions on MN Hwy. 55, Watkins. The deputy searched the area and all was clear.

4:31 p.m. the Sheriff's Office took a report of a theft from a residence on MN Hwy. 22, Eden Valley.

Sunday, Sept. 26: 9:00 p.m. the Sheriff's Office dispatched Eden Valley Rescue and Watkins Ambulance, per the request of Stearns County Sheriff Department, for a motorcycle accident in the area of MN Hwy. 22 and Delano Rd., Eden Valley. One individual was transported to Paynesville Hospital.

Saturday, Sept 25: 11:33 a.m. the Sheriff's Office transferred a cellular 9-1-1 call reporting a driving complaint that was occurring on Co. Rd. 2, Watkins, to the Stearns County Sheriff's Office.

Friday Sept. 24: 1:46 p.m. the Sheriff's Office took a report of criminal damage to property at a business on Central Ave. and 3rd St., Watkins.

Thursday Sept. 23: 2:57 a.m. the Sheriff's Office dispatched Watkins Ambulance to a medical at a business on Luella St., Watkins. One individual was transported to the St. Cloud Hospital.

4:10 a.m. the Sheriff's Office came across a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of a business on CSAH 27, Kimball. A deputy searched the area and found all to be clear.

7:08 a.m. the Sheriff's Office received a report of something burning outside at a residence on MN Hwy. 15, Kimball. Upon the deputy's arrival the property owner was advised of the burning laws and given a warning.

1:26 p.m. the Sheriff's Office dispatched Watkins Ambulance to a medical at Hilltop Care Center, Watkins. One individual was transported to Paynesville Hospital.

2:19 p.m. the Sheriff's Office took a report of a vulnerable adult at a residence on Church St., Watkins.

2:45 p.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to an animal complaint at a residence on MN Hwy. 55, Watkins. Upon arrival of the deputy everything was found to be fine and the owners were advised of the complaint.

2:56 p.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to and dispatched Watkins Ambulance to a medical at St. Anthony Manor, Watkins. One individual was transported to St. Cloud Hospital.

11:24 p.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to an alarm at a business on Central Ave. N., Watkins. A deputy arrived on scene and found it to be a false alarm.

Wednesday Sept. 22: 9:43 a.m. the Sheriff's Office received a report of an abandoned vehicle on 707th Ave., Kimball. Upon arrival of the deputies' the owner was contacted and will be removing the vehicle. The vehicle was off the roadway.

1:33 p.m. a Meeker County Sheriff's Office deputy came across a stalled vehicle on County State Aid Highway 2, Watkins. The driver was given a ride home and will be having the vehicle towed.

Tuesday, Sept. 21: 7:19 a.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a domestic situation at a residence on 3rd Street South, Watkins. A report was taken.

11:47 a.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the area of 675th Street and 343rd Avenue, Watkins. The deputy spoke with the individual and they were having car trouble and a tow was called.

6:14 p.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a two-vehicle accident without injuries on Meeker Stearns Street, Watkins.

Monday, Sept. 20: 9:19 p.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to a car/deer accident on County State Aid Highway 2, Watkins.
