Monday, Oct. 4, at 4:40 p.m., the Meeker County Sheriff's Office received a report of a possible barn fire at the William Lindenfelser residence located at 39515 627th Avenue, Watkins. Upon arrival, deputies found a 1986 Ford Conventional pickup, owned by William Francis Lindenfelser, fully engulfed in flames. Eden Valley Fire Department extinguished the vehicle fire. The pickup had been parked next to the barn but the barn sustained no damage. Upon investigation, it was discovered that the owner's two children, ages 4 and 6 years old, had been using a lighter to start paper on fire. Neither child was injured. The pickup was valued at $500 and was a total loss. The Meeker County Sheriff's Office is investigating this incident.
