Randy Schreifels, Stearns County Auditor-Treasurer, announces pre-registration applications for the November 2nd General Election must be turned in by next week, October 12th.
Pre-registration by Tuesday, October 12th will ensure that the registrants' name will appear on the roster that needs to be signed on Election Day in the polling place. Those who are not registered to vote at their current address should fill out a Voter Registration Application and return it to the Stearns County Auditor-Treasurer's office, Room 148, 705 Courthouse Square, St Cloud, 56301. Pre-registration will save time on Election Day.
Voters who are not pre-registered by October 12th will need to register at the polls on Election Day. Voters must provide proof of residence if registering on Election Day. Requirements for Election Day registration are available at www.co.stearns.mn.us.
Auditor-Treasurer Randy Schreifels said, "Stearns County processes nearly 20,000 election day registrations. If more of our unregistered citizens would pre-register, it would cut down on congestion in the polling place and speed up the process for voters".
Voter Registration Applications are on the Stearns County website at www.co.stearns.mn.us, or by contacting the Auditor-treasurer's office and an application can be sent by mail. Voter Registration Applications are also available from the local City or Township clerk. An instructional video is also online at www.co.stearns.mn.us.
