JV sweeps matches for week of Sept. 27

The junior varsity volleyball team is on a three-game win streak again. After beating Maple Lake during homecoming week, the Cubs beat Swanville handily in 2 sets. Scores were 25-18 and 25-12 for the Monday night, Sept. 27, match. Thursday, Sept. 30, the Cubs traveled to Holdingford to take on the Huskers. The Cubs opened strong in set one, defeating the Huskers 25-13. In set two, the Cubs dug a hole, allowing the Huskers a 10-point lead. Despite the slow start, the Cubs fought back. Unable to overcome the deficit, they lost set two, 17-25. In the third set, the Cubs and Huskers battled back and forth. In a well-played set by both teams, the Cubs came out on top, 17-15.

The junior varsity is now 6-3 overall. Quality communication, energy, and a well-developed team chemistry allow the team to work well on the floor. The next home match is at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, versus Eden Valley-Watkins. Saturday, Oct. 9, the Cubs host a junior varsity and varsity tournament at home, starting at 9 a.m.
