Fred "Fritz" Albers of Luxemburg died Wednesday, May 28, 2008. He was 101. Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Saturday, May 31, at St. Wendelin's Catholic Church in Luxemburg with Rev. Robert Rolfes officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday, May 30, and after 9 a.m. Saturday at Mary Hall in Luxemburg. Parish prayers are at 7 p.m. Friday. Fred B. Albers was born May 21, 1907, at Heron Lake, Minn., to William and Catherine (Schulte) Albers. He married Rose M. Michels July 17, 1928, in Cold Spring and they farmed in Rockville Township beginning in 1932. Fred also worked at Franklin Manufacturing, retiring in 1971. Fred was an avid fisherman and deer hunter. He enjoyed gardening and traveling. He was a member of St. Wendelin's Catholic Church, the International Association of Machinists and Cold Spring Catholic Order of Foresters. Fred was preceded in death by his wife, two infant children, six brothers, six sisters, daughter-in-law Mildred Albers, one granddaughter and one great-granddaughter. Fred is survived by children Fred Jr. (and Mary Ann) of St. Cloud, Kenneth (and Hermie) of Luxemburg, Rollie (and Renee) of Luxemburg, Rosemary (and Larry) Hinkemeyer of Mt. Prospect, Ill., Georgia (and Vernon) Koshiol of Luxemburg, Delores (and Merrill) Hinkemeyer of Cold Spring, Virgie (and Floyd) Beumer of Rockville, Bernie (and Thomas) Swanson of Mesa Ariz., and Milt (and Joyce) of Plymouth; 41 grandchildren; 88 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Claude Felling of Flint, Mich.; and sister-in-law Myrtle Albers of Alma, Ariz. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers. Fred's family would like to thank the staff of Assumption Home in Cold Spring for their care and concern over the last six years.
