Twenty-three members of the EVW/Kimball track team will compete in the section meet Wednesday, May 28, at St. John's University in Collegeville.
The girls' team took second place in the Subsection 17A meet May 20 at Maple Lake. The team had two subsection champs: Justine Hilsgen in the 1600-meter and Jessi Becker in the 300 hurdles. Advancing to sections are; Jessi Becker - 100 hurdles, 4x200, and 300 hurdles; Liz Kastanek - 4x200 and 4x100; Abby Konz - 4x200, 4x100 and 200-meter; Klarissa Eisenbraun - 4x200 and 4x100; Justine Hilsgen-1600-meter and 3200-meter; Rachel Arnold - 400-meter and 4x400; Molly Hesse 800-meter and 4x400; Rheanne Zimmerman - 3200-meter; Macki Nelson - pole vault; Nicole Klein - pole vault; Courtney Nistler - shotput and discus; Sarah Messer - shot put; Ally Konz - discus; Tanya Maciejewski - 1600-meter and 4x400; and Molly Hurrle - 4x400. The boys' team, meanwhile, finished fourth in the subsection meet. Kyle Kramer and the 4x100 relay team of Ryan McCann, Steve Burch, Lucas Haag and Riley Rice were crowned subsection champs. Kramer shattered the old 110-hurdle record with a time of 14.98. The previous record was set by Todd Faber in 1989. Advancing to the subsection meet are: Kyle Kramer - 110 hurdles, 4x200 and 300 hurdles; Ryan McCann - 100-meter, 4x200 and 4x100; Riley Rice - 100-meter and 4x100; Luke Schiefelbein - 4x200 and pole vault; Steve Burch - 4x200, 4x100 and 800-meter; Lucas Haag - 4x100; and Anthony Laabs - shot put and discus.
