Mickie Pittman-Leyendecker has been named Women Veterans Program Manager for the St. Cloud VA Medical Center. Pittman-Leyendecker is a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP) and is currently taking appointments to provide health care services to women veterans. Pittman-Leyendecker has a Bachelors degree in nursing from the College of St. Benedict and a Master of Science as a Perinatal Clinical Nurse Specialist from the University of Minnesota. She completed the Women's Health Nurse Practitioner program of Minnesota/South Dakota and is board certified by the National Certification Corporation. The Women Veterans Program is designed to provide high quality health care, including gender-specific care to women veterans. Its focus is on health and wellness throughout the life cycle, with treatment and care close to home. Nationally, women make up approximately seven percent of the total veteran population. Minnesota has 23,393 women veterans. The number of women veterans is expected to continue to grow as the number of women serving in our nation's armed forces grows.
