Evelyn Ellis, formerly of Kimball died Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at the Emmanuel Home in Litchfield. She was 90. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, March 30, at Kimball United Methodist Church with the Rev. Heather E. Klason officiating. Burial will be in the Kimball Cemetery. Friends may call from 12:30-3 p.m. Saturday at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Kimball, and one hour prior to services Sunday at the church. A prayer service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. H. Evelyn Ellis was born May 3, 1917, in Kelliher to Grover and Harriet (Houghton) Lackey. She married Ernest Ellis on Oct. 26, 1935, and he preceded her in death Nov. 24, 1958. Evelyn then married Claude Ellis Aug. 15, 1962, and he preceded her in death July 5, 1987. She worked as a librarian at the Great River Regional Library in Kimball from 1962-1972. Evelyn was a member of the Kimball United Methodist Church, the Order of Eastern Star and the Kimball American Legion Auxiliary Post 261. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing cards and especially enjoyed spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; grandson Keith Wiens; brothers Kenneth and Donald Lackey; sisters Lucille Johnson, Shirley Peterson and Luella Anderson; and son-in-law Jim Becker. She is survived by daughters, Lota (and John) Wiens of Minneapolis and Donna Becker of Litchfield; sister Oma Lea Beckey of Crystal; brother-in-law Donald Anderson of Kimball; grandchildren Craig Wiens of Wooster, Ohio, Kevin Wiens of Bloomington and Barb (and Jim) Thies of Hutchinson; and great-grandchildren Dalton and Tyler Thies. Pallbearers will be Craig and Kevin Wiens, Jim, Barb, Dalton and Tyler Thies. Jessica McIntyre, pianist and Jon Mackereth, soloist, will provide the music for the service.
