Eight Meeker County 4-Hers participated in the regional Rabbit Bowl Contest held Saturday, March 15, in Hasting. One senior team and one junior team competed against other teams from across the state. Both teams did a great job, especially since this was their first competition. Matches for both teams were very close and everyone buzzed-in to answer questions. The judges told the participants that they did an excellent job for their 1st year competing and said that they will be very competitive in years to come. Congratulations on your achievements
Senior team members include: Mandy Peterson of Grove City, Kristin Bjork of Dassel, Nicole Knickerbocker of Kimball, and Miranda Michaletz of Litchfield. Junior team members are: Elijah Michaletz of Litchfield, Andrew Pearson of Atwater, Katie Peterson of Grove City, and Oliver Leafblad of Litchfield. Both teams were coached by Dawn and Joel Michaletz. Rabbit Bowl is a "quiz bowl" competition where all questions deal with rabbit topics. Teams of four to six members compete with each other in giving oral answers to questions posed by a moderator. Questions are on topics such as nutrition, reproduction, breeds, and judging. Teams receive points for correct answers and may lose points for incorrect answers. The team with the highest final score is the winner. The contest is organized on a double elimination basis with winning teams advancing into further rounds until a champion team is selected.
