JV Cubs finish season with win

Loss to Pierz Kimball traveled to Pierz on Monday, March 3, facing a talented Pierz Pioneers squad. Pierz jumped out to an early lead and never looked back as they claimed a 57-42 victory. The Cubs hearts were in it, however, as they played hard to the final buzzer and actually outscored their opponent 27-24 in the second half. Bobby Arens scored 14 points to lead the way, while Jared Mackereth worked hard on the boards where he claimed most of his eight points. Neil Helgeson finished with five points, Alex Fischer four, Cody Erickson three, and Travis Erickson, Pat Libbesmeier, Ryan Young and Jade Hamilton all contributed a field goal each. Beats Holdingford Kimball's season finale would come at home against Holdingford Thursday, March 6. Kimball jumped out to an early lead, only to have the Huskers fight back to tie, but a late first half Kimball run rebuilt the lead to 28-15 at the half. Kimball played great team defense, which in turn led to increased offensive opportunities for the young Cubs. Feeding off their defense, Kimball closed out a 50-39 win where the Cubs continued to show a lot of desire to perform well on the court. Helgeson played extremely well, scoring 20 points for the night. Libbesmeier showed his skills, scoring nine points. Fischer had eight. Travis Erickson had six. Hamilton had three. Young had two.
