If you've ever thought about opening your home to abused or neglected children, you'll want to attend Stearns County's next child foster care and adoption orientation session. This informational meeting will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 20, from 2-4 p.m. at the Stearns County Administration Center Board Room in downtown St. Cloud. At this informational meeting, prospective parents will learn more about the children who need foster care and adoptive homes, licensing requirements and preliminary paperwork. This orientation is a prerequisite for child foster care and adoption licensure with Stearns County. Stearns County Human Services is always looking for parents who are willing to share their home with children who need to be separated from their parents because of abuse or neglect. Foster families serve a critical role in Stearns County's effort to care for children. Anyone interested in becoming a child foster parent or adoptive parent of a foster child really should attend this meeting. In a two-parent home, both parents are encouraged to be present. There is no charge to go to the meeting and it is open to the public. If you would like to attend, you can pre-register by calling Lynn Olson in Human Services at (320) 656-6033.
