Members of the Kingston Johnson Kelly American Legion Post #483 and Auxiliary are once again honoring our veterans by remembering them for Valentine's Day, Feb. 14, and every day. The Sunday School children of Kingston Redeemer and Apostolic Lutheran churches and students of Kimball Elementary School classes made a large number of Valentines for our veterans at the St. Cloud Veterans Medical Center. The Valentines are used to decorate the day and activity rooms for the veterans, as well as offices, and used on Valentine's Day on their dinner trays. We need to remind our veterans we are not forgetting all they have done for us. Thank you area children for making all the beautiful Valentines for our veterans - we love our veterans. We are thinking of them each day. We also need to remember our fighting servicemen and women in Iraq, Afghanistan, in the war zones, who are fighting for our freedom - "Something to Sing About." February is Americanism Month. Let's be patriotic, fly our flags, honor our soldiers. Part of the Americanism program is the Girl State program, National Youth Programs, essay contests, Girl Scout Achievement Awards, and flag education. President's Day is Monday, Feb. 18 - honor our veterans and fly your flag. The Department of Minnesota is working hard on their Americanism programs, as we continue to "Let freedom ring throughout the state." Remember the troops overseas - and their families at home. Thanks veterans. The next meeting of the Kingston Johnson Kelly American Legion Post 483 for members and auxiliary is Tuesday, Feb. 26, beginning at 7:30 p.m. at Kingston American Legion Hall. Elaine opsahl and Opal Hedlund are on the lunch committee. Ann Hamilton, pub.rel.
