This past Thursday and Friday the Cubs have wrestled five different teams including ROCORI and MACCRAY in which the Cubs won by a score of 50-19 and 54-21. This gives the Cubs a 7-12 record on the season and sets them up against Eden Valley-Watkins on Tuesday night with the winner wrestling number one seed ACGC also on Tuesday. At 103, freshman Tyler Kuechle went 3-0 including a one point decision against his Paynesville opponent and picking up two more pins one of which came in 16 seconds. Freshman Tanner Meierhofer picked up three more wins in the past two days including a pin in 14 seconds at 112 and a technical fall by a score of 16-0. Tim Konz, a seventh-grader at 119, picked up a pin against his Litchfield opponent on Thursday night. Eighth-grader Travis Schiefelbein went 4-1 by a score of technical fall on Friday and two pins on Thursday night. Ronnie Antiel also picked up a couple of wins at the 130-pound weight class. Senior Derek Orbeck got back on a winning streak as he picked up five wins with a couple coming by means of a pin. It was Freshman Mitch Pramann who wrestled 140 and picked up two three wins all of which came in some very exciting matches. Eighth grader-Alex Thurber picked up a win at the 145-pound weight class. Junior Zach Hedlund wrestling at 152, won a match by a close decision. Senior Pavel Sizikof had the most fun matches to watch this past two days as he won three of his five matches with a three wins by two points of less, these wins are Pavel's first ever wins on varsity. Luke Schiefelbein, a junior at 171, went 4-1 including a 10-2 decision over a good Litchfield wrestler. Anthony Labbs picked up a win against his ROCORI opponent whom beat Anthony earlier in the season by a score of 6-3. At the 215-pound weight class, Josh Almgren picked up three wins all by means of a pin. Senior Mitch Fischer picked up two wins on Friday night at the heavyweight position. On the JV, the team was led by seventh-grader Travis Wills picking up four wins. Also scoring wins was eighth-grader Luke Serbus by means of a pin. Also picking up a pin was seventh-grader Tim Konz.
