The boys traveled to New London for a pair of 55 league games Saturday. They faced Eden Valley Watkins first and came away with a lopsided 42-14 victory. The Cubs were led in scoring by Cameron Hunt with 15 and Adam Laabs with 11. Ben Serbus led the team with seven rebounds. Mitchell Klein scored eight, Luke Merten contributed six, and Nate Overland scored a bucket and added some key steals. Overall, the team's ability to find the open teammate and make the pass to them was a highlight of the game.
In the second game, the boys faced Maple Lake and won by a score of 35-10. Cameron Hunt led the way with 11 points, while Adam Laabs scored eight, and Luke Merten and Ben Serbus scored six apiece. Cameron and Ben also each grabbed nine boards with Adam adding eight more. Mitchell Klein a great job running the point and scored two points, while also grabbing a pair of steals and making a couple of assists. Nate Overland did a fantastic job of harassing the ball handlers on defense and came away with a couple of steals again. Collectively, the Cubs swarmed Maple Lake on defense and ended up holding the opponents scoreless in the second half. The level of dedication and hard work was fantastic to see. The team plays Feb. 9 at the Albany tournament. Brent Hilbert, coach
