Opened just last week, the new bar and grill is in the location formerly occupied by Pizza Works on Central Avenue in Watkins.
Denise's Defined Image
Denise Donnay recently took over Kerry's Cutting Edge (on Maus Drive in Kimball). She has re-done the salon, and now offers extended hours.
Arcade, sandwiches and pizza, Grumper Bob's will be opening soon on State Street in Eden Valley.
Diva's started in Kimball but it's now expanded to Annandale and Buffalo. Shawna Paulson is their new nail tech and stylist, and they now offer spray tanning among their growing list of services.

State Bank of Kimball
The bank recently celebrated 25th anniversary of Keith Markwardt and 50th anniversary of Jane Pickle together with their customer appreciation day last month.
Eden Valley-Watkins Clinic
This year the Paynesville Area Healthcare System consolidated their Watkins and Eden Valley clinics into one location, on Highway 55 in Eden Valley.
City of Kimball
The city has a new clerk, Nicole Pilarski, and even newer deputy clerk, Leslie Arnold.
If you haven't been in city hall for awhile, you should stop and take a look. The false ceilings have been removed, and the old tin ceiling is painted white. The walls are painted, the floors refinished, and there's a new heating/air conditioning system.
The Police Department has moved. It's no longer in what used to be the stage area of city hall. Now it's on Hazel Avenue, right behind Main Street Pub, in what used to be the Arnold's of Kimball business office. The city purchased this building.
The city is working with Clearwater River Watershed District on improvement of water runoff in the city. The CRWD was awarded a grant to help the city.
Kimball Area Fire & Rescue Department
The KFD has been awarded a FEMA grant for new equipment, and they recently added SUV to its fleet. Once the new turnout gear and SCBAs arrive, the department will be "completely compliant for the first time," according to chief John Gohmann.
Kimball Public Library
The Great River Regional Library system has added lots of new programs, especially this summer, thanks to the "legacy" tax Minnesota voters approved in 2008.
The Hit Room
Now open on State Street in Eden Valley,
Theisen Building Supply in Marty (Pearl Lake) has been closed for two months, but Craig Theisen is plenty busy with Theisen Construction. The "building" part of the business continues strong.
Andy Knaus started this business about a year ago, and recently moved into office space on Main Street (in what used to be Don Pusc's insurance office years ago).

The Watkins salon has moved to a new building.
Eden Valley-Watkins Schools
Retiring this year were Jesse Flaschenriem, Linda Haag, Bonnie Kirschenman; Kevin Kampsen accepted a job in Annandale; and Tammy Asfeld and Anne Worm resigned.
Jason Huschle, Dave Schneider and Andrea Millerbernd were hired for next year.
The Watkins real estate office has added Dan Libbesmeier of Kimball, Kyle Neu of Eden Valley, and Kevin Breuschel of Cold Spring.
Principal Jon Clark has accepted a job at Brainerd, and the search is now on for a new elementary principal who should be in place by the end of this month. Susan Sides and Pat Dockendorf at the elementary retired this year.
The school district will put the issue of a necessary operating levy to voters in November. (Watch for more on this in future issues of the Tri-County News.
They've consolidated their Kimball and Watkins operations into their Watkins building. (Arnold's is now in their old location.)
Watkins-Kimball Vet Clinic
The Watkins Veterinary Clinic purchased the Kimball Veterinary Clinic some months ago, and the two have merged successfully with a new name and new logo.

City of Eden Valley
Cheryl Theilen recently became a new city council member.
Arnold's of Kimball
They've moved their business office from downtown Kimball to County Road 150, across from the Kimball Golf Club. (Fire Trak, which used to be there, is now in Watkins. And the Kimball Police Dept. is in Arnold's old location.)

Recently opened on Hwy. 55 in Eden Valley.
Kimball Post Office
After Scott Lindemann's retirement, Patty Nelson was named Officer In Charge of the Kimball Post Office pending the appointment of a new postmaster. After nearly a year, the new postmaster has arrived: Lisa Carlson is now on duty.
South Haven City Hall
Now closed because of structural instability, the fate of the 77-year-old building will soon be decided. Eligible for the National Register of Historic Places, the building is not safe. Options include restoration, demolition, and/or a new community building.
Thomes Insurance Group-Kimball
Thomes is established in their new location (formerly Arnold Auto at the corner of Hwys. 15 and 55), and recently celebrated customer appreciation day there with a picnic last month.
