Ridgewater College leads football camp at KAHS

By Jamie Leither, Coach

Monday and Tuesday, June 21 and 22, the Kimball football program had the coaching staff of Ridgewater Community College come and share some of their drills with our players. There were 48 players from grades 7-12 who attended this camp. The players received a lot of personal instruction from the staff. Many new players to the program took advantage of this opportunity to get to know their teammates and learn what positions they might like to try in the fall.

The varsity players took this time to get themselves ready for the trip that the team was taking to Duluth for a team camp to scrimmage four other teams. The young men are working hard in the weight room, passing scrimmages, and other camps to make themselves better for the upcoming season. There will be other camps for the players in grades 9-12 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. each night, July 26-29. This will also be held at Kimball Area High School football fields.

The Kimball staff would like to thank the staff and players of Ridgewater for coming out to Kimball to put on this camp. The coaches involved were Rob Baumgarn (head coach), Jim Mitteness, Ken Heitzman, and Justin Boike. Players from Ridgewater were Jon Carter, Robert Johnson, Jackson Illies, Kris Belfrey, Aaron Belfrey, Corey Dammann, and Jeff Kalow. Good luck to the Warriors in the upcoming season. We would like to thank the many people that have made these camps possible. The Sports Boosters have done a great job to support the program. "The Preserve" and Paul Sundin, thanks for helping our athletes get "bigger, faster, and stronger," and thanks to the parents of the players who support their sons during the summer and during the season. Thank you and "Go Cubs."
