The Kimball Area Fire and Rescue Department recently learned that they have been awarded a grant of $111,535. This money comes from a FEMA program to provide fire departments with essential gear. The Department will replace turnout gear (outer jackets, pants, and boots; pictured at left) and to purchase new face masks and air tanks (pictured above). Some of the department's turnout gear, currently used but not directly in fires, is as much as 25 years old (15 years beyond the recommended use). Staff photos by Jean Doran Matua.
