Carolyn Horwath of Litchfield, died Saturday, July 3, 2010, at her home residence. She was 86.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 8, at St. Mathew's United Church of Christ in Forest City with Pastor Jeanne Bringgold-Pro officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, and from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday, both at St. Mathew's United Church of Christ in Forest City. Burial will be in the Forest City Cemetery.
Carolyn Horwath was born August 24, 1923, in Forest Prairie Township, Meeker County, to Walter and Sophie (Rosenow) Rohrbeck. Carolyn was united in marriage to Frank Horwath in 1945 at St. Mathew's United Church of Christ in Forest City. They resided in California for eight years before moving back to the Litchfield area. Carolyn was a long-time member of St. Mathew's United Church of Christ, and was active with the Women's Fellowship group, and the church choir. She was also a member of the Litchfield VFW and Legion Auxiliaries and the Forest City Birthday Club. Her hobbies included gardening and cooking and she especially enjoyed trips to the casino.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and five sisters.
She is survived by her husband Frank Horwath of Litchfield; children Carole Lou (and Robert) Becker of Watkins, Gary (and Joan) Horwath of Litchfield, Wesley (and Sherry) Horwath of Litchfield; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson; nieces and nephews.
