Since 1985, diversiCOM Melrose Telephone Company has invested in central Minnesota youth through the L.H. Arvig Memorial Scholarship program. More than 125 high school seniors have been recipients of these scholarships. Students must meet certain criteria in the area of academics and future career plans. Each winner is awarded $1,000.
Kelsey Vigoren was the winner chosen at Kimball Area High School. She will be attending University of Minnesota-Duluth planning to go into the field of healthcare. She is the daughter of Barb Vigoren.
Eden Valley-Watkins High School winner is Brooke Meyer. She is the daughter of Joe and Julie Meyer and will be attending Gustavus Adolphus College to pursue a degree in Biology.
Joe Zimmerman was the Melrose Area High School winner. Zimmerman will be attending Vermillion Community College to study Fish and Wildlife Management. He is the son of Scott Zimmerman.
