Saturday, May 2, Representative Michele Bachmann (MN-06) presented nine High School Seniors with the Congressional Certificate of Merit in Monticello.
"Each of you has excelled as both students and citizens," Bachmann told the honorees. "You have made great contributions to your community and have set a shining example for others to follow. With your incredible achievements, you not only demonstrate that you are ready for the challenges that lie ahead, but more importantly, that you are ready to lead. That's a rare characteristic, and I wish you all the best in your future endeavors."
Kelsey Vigoren was nominated by Kimball Area High School because she exhibited "great character by showing care and respect for her peers. She also provides leadership, insight, and knowledge to those around her." The Congressional Certificate of Merit is awarded each year to high school seniors that have demonstrated exemplary citizenship and academic excellence during their high school careers. Students are nominated by school faculty or administrator, and each school may nominate only one student.
