Sunday, May 16, Kimball hosted its first 12-and-under fastpitch tournament. The tournament consisted of six teams: Kimball, Litchfield, Cold Spring, St. Michael-Albertville, and two Maple Lake teams.
Kimball played the first round and lost to Litchfield 5-11. With the nerves out of the way, Kimball found their composure and started the battle in the loser's bracket. They beat Maple Lake 2 by a score of 15-7, to advance to the next round. Here Kimball met up with Litchfield again, who earlier had lost to Maple Lake 1. Kimball entered the top of the seventh, tied at a score of 7-7. Kimball scored one run to take the lead, and held litchfield in the bottom half of the inning to take the win 8-7. Kimball then beat Cold Spring 17-12 to advance to the championship. In the championship game, a tired Kimball team met up with a well-rested Maple Lake 1 team and lost 1-10 to earn a second-place finish.
The girls showed a lot of effort and endurance, while playing a long day and showing a nice performance on their hometown fields. The players on this team included: Denzel Atherton, Bailey Berscheid, Becky Holtz, Shay Krippner,Tashi Kunkel, Ariel Laabs, Lauren Libbesmeier, Madison Libbesmeier, Hedy Robben, Amanda Roerick, Kaitlyn Truenow, Montana Tschida, and Emily Utecht.
