Speech students advance to Sections

Kimball Area High School speech team had very good results this past week at the Subsection Speech Contest, with 20 students from KAHS competing in 10 of 13 categories. Of those competing, 13 advance to Sections April 12 (three of these are alternates). This is how the students placed: Creative Expression, Ryan Stein, third place; Drama, Ashley Kalkbrenner, first alternate; Discussion, Kyle Messer, second place; Extemp. Reading, Tyler Dockery, fifth place; Extemp. Reading, Chelsey Maus, second place; Great Speeches, Kenzie Traurig, fifth place; Humorous, Amanda Kuseske, first alternate; Humorous, Sammi Stewart-James, second place; Informative, Megan Jones, fifth place; Poetry, Camen Miles, sixth place; Prose, Kelsey Klein, first alternate; Storytelling, Kate Hoff, third place; and Lindsey Pramann, champion. Others from the area placing included: Drama, Lybbi Labeau (Annandale), second place; Humorous, Riley Rice (Eden Valley-Watkins), third place; and Prose, Scott Babbitt (Eden Valley-Watkins), second place. As a team, KAHS placed third. New London-Spicer took the Subsection Championship, with Eden Valley-Watkins Subsection runner-up. Jody Markgraf, coach
