Mom's Place of South Haven has been honored by the Girl Scouts of Minnesota and Wisconsin Lakes and Pines with the Beacon Award for its outstanding service and support of the local Girl Scout program. This award recognizes individuals, businesses, schools and organizations that have gone above and beyond expectations in supporting and making Girl Scouts possible in their community, and Mom's Place had done just that. Mom's Place has opened
its doors to Girl Scouts with everything from tours to earning
badges in their kitchen for more than eight years. Mary Ann Edwards has also donated time and supplies to girls for summer camp and the Girl Scouts Cookie Sale kickoff. "Mom's Place Cafe has given the girls the opportunity to earn their cooking badges in an exciting environment. Her donations have helped keep the costs down for fun activities and her willingness to always volunteer is greatly appreciated," says Jolene Leither, Girl Scout volunteer for the Watkins/Kimball/South Haven area. Recipients of the Beacon Award are chosen and elected by local Service Units and committees for their non-monetary and ongoing contributions.
