KAHS Speech team at Sauk Centre

Sauk Centre, home of Sinclair Lewis, played host to central Minnesota speech teams this past Saturday. The Streeter Invitational hosted 17 teams at a "Breakfast Cereal Extravaganza," and collected food share items to honor "March is Food Share Month."

As a team, Kimball earned a third-place trophy, which in keeping with the theme of the meet, is a large wooden spoon. This is the third consecutive year Kimball has earned third place at Sauk Centre, and they have an owl (Harry Potter theme) and toilet plunger (Mario Bros. theme) as unusual trophies.

Individuals who won recognition include Honorable Mentions for Chelsey Maus, Serious Prose and Katelyn Asfeld, Serious Poetry; fifth-place medals for Camen Miles in Creative Expression and Mitchell Hurrle and Sheila Konz in Duo Interpretation; fourth-place to Olivia Straley in Storytelling; third place-medals to Logan Bartholomew in Serious Drama and Katelyn Lichte in Extemporaneous Speaking, and second-place medals to Shota Kuprava in Discussion and Chelsey Maus in Humorous. Congrats to all speakers on a great day!

This Saturday, March 10, Kimball hosts the Eighth Annual Empress Invitational. Round one begins at 9 a.m., round two at 10:20 a.m., and round three at 11:40. The top eight speakers in each of 13 categories will face off in a Final Round, which will begin approximately 1:30 p.m. Speech meets are open to the public, and you are invited to come watch and support your Kimball Speechers!
