Marjorie Schaaf of Dassel died Saturday, June 28, 2008, at the Burns Manor in Hutchinson. She was 78. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 3, at the Apostolic Lutheran Church in Kingston with pastor Orval Wirkkala officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 12-2 p.m. Thursday at the church. Marjorie Elaine (Wilson) Schaaf was born May 15, 1930, in Underwood, N.D., to Floyd and Lillian (Johnson) Wilson. She grew up in Underwood, where she was both baptized and confirmed. Marjorie married Edward Schaaf March 26, 1949, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Markville, Minn. Together they made their home in Underwood, N.D., Virginia, Minn., Hoyt Lakes, Minneapolis, Cass Lake, Belle Plaine for 30 years, Pequot Lakes and, since February 2007, in Dassel. They wintered in Harlingen, Texas, from 1993-2007. Marjorie belonged to the Red Hats in both Minnesota and Texas. She enjoyed playing Bingo, bowling, conversing with family and friends, and she liked to try new crafts. Marjorie was preceded in death by son Bruce Edward Schaaf Nov. 27, 2002; parents; and brothers Arthur and Donald Wilson. Marjorie is survived by husband Edward of Dassel; children Barbara (and Ron) Koschel of West Minster, Colo. Marsha (and Boyd) Schaaf-Rebers of Carver, Edward II (and Fay) Schaaf of Arvada, Colo., and Stacie (and Dennis) Schaaf of Belle Plaine; daughter-in-law Joan (and Bruce) Schaaf of Belle Plaine; several grandchildren, one great-grandchild; sister Doris (and Norm) Reike of McMinnville, Ore., and brothers Richard Schauer of Underwood, N.D., and Allen Schauer of Wilton, N.D.; sisters-in-law Doris Wilson of Grand Junction, Colo., and Delores Wilson of Cheyenne, Wyo. She is also survived by numerous other relatives. Arrangements were by Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel.
