The Kimball Area Dollars for Scholars chapter held its annual Gala Saturday, May 10, at Kimball Area High School. "A Touch of Class" was this year's theme. The event included a silent auction, gourmet dinner, scholarship awards, and entertainment. The chapter board of directors recently decided that at least $5,000 in scholarships will be awarded by them, along with the approximately 10 others from various donors. These scholarships will be based on the number of applicants and eligibility. Dollars for Scholars is a division of Scholarship America. The group will have a new logo, which prominently features an eagle in flight, carrying a scroll/diploma. The logo allows the organization, the various divisions of SA and the programs to develop a consistent identity that is forward-looking, but rooted in tradition according to the SA office.
