A 36-year-old Sartell man driving a 2004 Olds Alero was killed in a head-on collision with an empty
dump truck shortly after 11 a.m. Monday, May 12. The accident happened four miles south of Kimball on Hwy. 15 in Meeker County, reports the Minnesota State Patrol. Barry Donald Gronli sustained multiple traumatic injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Knife River 2006 International dump truck, Jason
A. Kantor, 30, of Clearwater, was taken to St. Cloud Hospital with minor injuries. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts. The Alero was southbound on Highway 15 and the dump truck was northbound when the Alero crossed over into the northbound lane, striking the dump truck. The truck went into the ditch and caught fire. It is not known how or why Gronli's car crossed the center line into on-coming traffic. The accident is under investigation by the State Patrol. Gronli was a 1990 graduate of New London-Spicer High School. He leaves behind four children. A funeral service is scheduled Thursday in Spicer. Just three hours later, near Willmar, another car veered into on-coming traffic on Highway 12 and struck a semi truck. A 66-year-old driver in that accident also was killed.
