Jenna Maus and David Joseph, Kimball Area High School seniors, have been selected to represent KAHS in the academics, Arts, and Athletics Award program for Region 5A announced recently.
Established in 1988, the Academics, Arts, and Athletics Award (Triple "A" Award) is sponsored by the Minnesota State High School League The award goes to high school seniors who have a "B" or better grade-point average, and who participate in League-sponsored athletic and fine arts activities.
Jenna is involved in band and jazz band. She has received an excellent and superior rating in the district solo/ensemble contest. She also is involved in golf, and has been on the CMC All-Conference Academic team the past three years. She is the president of the Kimball High School Band, senior class secretary, and treasurer of the Kimball NHS. Academically, she currently has the top grade-point average in her class.
David is involved in choir and is a three-sport athlete. He participates in football, wrestling and baseball. He is on the CMC All Conference team in all three sports. He has been participating on the varsity level in wrestling since seventh grade and has been captain the past two years. David is a leader not only on the field and mat, but in the classroom, as well. He is currently taking three college-level classes and has a 3.95 grade-point average.
Triple "A" Award recipients are selected by a multi-level process involving the League's member schools and administrative regions. League officials will announce the four award recipients (a girl and a boy from both a Class "A" and Class "AA" school) at an on-court recognition ceremony held Saturday, March 26, 2011. Each award recipient will receive a four-year $1,000 scholarship.
Both students will participate in the District Banquet held at Paynesville Jan. 12, 2011. Schools in our district are: EV/W, Litchfield, Dassel, B/B/E, A/C/GC, and Paynesville.
