Kimball hosted Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City last Tuesday night (Dec. 7) in boys' basketball. The Cubs' started out slow in the first half as both teams struggled to put the ball in the hoop. A late run by Kimball put them ahead by six at the half 20-14.
In the second half, the Cubs started pounding the ball inside to their post players and their guards attacked the basket, which led to good results. Kimball shot 53 percent (16/30) from the field in the second half. The Cubs stretched the lead to fourteen at one point before closing out a 62-51 win.
Neil Helgeson led all scorers with 31 points. Brett Ostby and Ty Filzen chipped in with nine and seven points respectively. Dillon Menson grabbed 12 rebounds with Seke Snead adding six. Cole Denn handed out five assists. Ostby and Filzen each had five of the team's 20 total steals. The Cubs have a record of two wins and no losses to start the season.
