Thefts of calves in Stearns Co.,
Friday and Saturday, Nov. 26 and 27, the Stearns County Sheriff's Office took three complaints involving the theft of calves. The farmers reported that during the previous night, someone had come onto their farm site and stolen the calves. The calves were in a barn or in calf hutches on the farm property. It appeared that someone had parked a distance away and walked up to the farm and carried the calves off. The calves were described as four Holstein bulls, one Holstein heifer, and one Jersey heifer.
The Sheriff's Office is investigating these thefts and is asking for anyone with information to call (320) 251-4240, or Tri-County Crime Stoppers at (320) 255-1301.
Monday, Nov. 29, a Millwood Township resident reported the theft of the three Holstein heifer calves. The owner believes that the calves were stolen during the early morning hours of Sunday, Nov. 28. It appears that a vehicle was driven into the farm yard and someone took the three calves from their hutches.
This is the fourth report of cattle thefts handled by the Sheriff's Office and involves the theft of nine calves. The Sheriff's Office is urging farmers to attempt to secure their livestock and be on the watch for unusual happenings. Thanksgiving crash near Kingston
A driver who was texting while south-bound on Hwy. 15 between the Hwy. 24 junction and Kingston veered into the oncoming lane and sideswiped an oncoming SUV at around 6:15 p.m. Thanksgiving Day. Donavon Loehrer, 30 of St. Cloud, faces charges for texting while driving. The other driver, Robert Melin, 57 of Hutchinson, had minor facial injuries; neither driver was taken to the hospital, and there were no passengers. The highway was blocked for about 45 minutes after the accident.
Burglary in Oak Township
A residential burlary is being investigated as of Monday, Nov. 29,
by Stearns County Deputies at 37976 County Road 11, north of Freeport. During the burglary, the homeowner's green 1995 Chevrolet Blazer SUV was also stolen. The SUV's license plate is 453 CJB. Note: If this vehicle is observed, the Sheriff's Office warns, do not approach.

Kimball Police Dept.
Sunday, Nov. 28: 7 p.m., two-vehicle car-deer accident. Alyssa Tranby, 20, was southbound on Hwy. 15 south of Kimball and hit a deer. Shanna Vandke, 33, was northbound on Hwy. 15 and also hit the deer; her car was towed away. Joshua LeDoux, 22, was passing by and was issued a car-kill deer possession permit.
Thursday, Nov. 18: 11:37 a.m., a semi truck drove off from Schmidty's without paying for $200 in fuel; the driver was stopped as he headed northbound on Hwy. 15.
Tuesday, Nov. 16: 11 p.m., officer assisted with elderly woman who fell and hurt her shoulder in her apartment in Kimball; Watkins Ambulance took her to the hospital.
Monday, Nov. 15: 5:52 p.m., burglar alarm at Kimball business (turned out to be employee error with alarm code).

Sunday, Nov. 28
1:13 a.m. the Sheriff's Office took a theft report at a residence on Central Avenue North, Watkins.
11:23 a.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to a suspicious individual on Cedar Avenue, Watkins. Upon arrival of the deputy, it was determined that everything was okay.
2:01 p.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to and dispatched Dassel Fire for a chicken coup on fire on County State Aid Highway 27, Kimball. The building, with 12 chickens was lost. Damage is estimated at under $1,000.
3:19 p.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to a report of unsafe conditions occurring in the Watkins Trailer Court, Watkins.
5:14 p.m. the Sheriff's Office received a report of unsafe conditions on MN Highway 15, Dassel. A towing company was contacted to remove the vehicle from the roadway.
5:26 p.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to a report of unsafe conditions on MN Highway 15, Dassel. The animal was removed from the roadway.
5:58 p.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to a driving complaint in the area of MN Highway 15 and County State Aid Highway 27, Kimball. The deputies made contact with the driver who was given a warning. The deputies located a second vehicle whose driver was cited for unlawful passing in a no passing zone.
Saturday, Nov. 27
4:15 a.m. the Sheriff's Office took a report of a car/deer accident in the area of 275th Street and 748th avenue, Dassel.
9:19 a.m. the Sheriff's Office advised an individual on a custody exchange on Service Road, Watkins.
12:04 p.m. the Sheriff's Office took a report of an assault that occurred on 343rd Street, Watkins.
5:48 p.m. the Sheriff's Office took a report of a vulnerable adult at a residence on Church St., Watkins.
Friday Nov. 29
4:05 a.m. the Sheriff's Office received a report of a car/deer accident on 650th Street and MN Highway 24, Litchfield. No injuries were reported.
8:11 a.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to an injured deer complaint in the area of County State Aid Highway 4 and 255th Street, Dassel. The deputy arrived on the scene and put down the deer. A deer possession tag was issued.
10:39 p.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to a driving complaint in the area of US Highway 12 and MN Highway 15, Dassel.
Thursday Nov. 29
4:41 a.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to a request to check the welfare of a stalled motorist on MN Highway 55, Watkins. The deputy checked the vehicle and it was not a road hazard and the driver was picked up prior to the arrival of the deputy.
6:08 p.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a truck pulling an auger that was south on MN Highway 4, Grove City that had pulled down a power line. The deputy remained on scene to assist Grove City Electric with traffic control. The vehicle was later located in Kandiyohi County on US Highway 12 by the MN State Patrol.
6:12 p.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to and dispatched Kimball Rescue, Kimball Fire, Watkins Ambulance and the MN State Patrol to a report of a two-vehicle personal injury accident on MN Highway 15 and 330th Street, Kimball. Two individuals were treated at the scene.
7:36 p.m. the Sheriff's Office checked on a stalled motorist on US Highway 12 and MN Highway 15, Dassel. The deputy waited with the individual until their ride arrived and the vehicle was removed from the roadway.
Wednesday Nov. 24
12:51 p.m. the Sheriff's Office assisted the St Patrol with a property damage accident on MN Highway 22, Eden Valley. There were no injuries reported.
3:19 p.m. the Sheriff's Office received a report of unsafe conditions in the area of County State Aid Highway 17 and MN Highway 24, Watkins. The information was transferred to the MN St Patrol.
4:00 p.m. the Sheriff's Office received a cellular 9-1-1 call reporting a driving complaint north bound on MN Highway 15, Kimball. The call was transferred to the MN St Patrol.
5:08 p.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to a custody issue at a residence on 645th Avenue, Watkins. The deputy advised the party of their options.
Tuesday Nov. 23
10:41 a.m. the Sheriff's Office took a report of a property damage accident on 355th Street, Kimball.
12:35 p.m. the Sheriff's Office received a complaint of theft from an address on Church Street in Watkins. A deputy responded and filed a report.
4:42 p.m. the Sheriff's Office assisted Eden Valley Police with a possible missing person. Upon the deputy's arrival the person had returned.
Monday, Nov. 22
9:16 a.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to a request to assist the public at a residence on 362nd Street, Watkins. The deputy advised the party of their options.
