The St. Cloud State University baseball coaching staff and team members will be sponsoring the 4th Annual "Starz of Tomorrow Holiday Camp" for area youth ages 8-18 on Monday, Dec. 27, and Tuesday,
Dec. 28. The cost for the camp is $125 per person and $75 for additional family members.
The camp will be held in the SCSU Husky Dome, which is one of the best indoor training facilities in the country. The synthetic turfed field is 80-yards by 120-yards and is 120 feet high.
"We are very excited to get our off season camps going. We had more than 1,000 campers last year at our camps and just finished another successful fall league and MEA Camp," said clinic director Derick Snell.
The Holiday Camp will be broken into specific groups for pitchers, catchers, infielders and outfielders. Players will also be separated by age groups. Following lunch, all players will go through a series of hitting drills and fundamental instruction.
The camp will end with a simulated game and then skills testing in the 60-yard dash, home-to-first base, radar gun speed and defensive skill testing. A new feature for this year's camp will be video tape analysis and evaluation on players hitting and pitching.
Overnight campers will again be lodged at the Grandstay Suites and bussed back to the Husky Dome for only $25. This includes the Monday night team dinner and Tuesday morning breakfast.
"For many of the players this is really one of the camp highlights. They get to go swimming, play video games and watch baseball movies in the hotel. We also have a baseball chalk talk before room check," Snell said.
Camp enrollment is limited, so please sign up early. The registration deadline is Dec. 1.
