The Ridgewater College Lady Warriors (Willmar) defeated Brookhaven College Lady Bears (Farmers Branch, Texas) 25-23, 21-25, 23-25, 25-21, 16-14 to win the NJCAA Division III National Volleyball Championship. The match featured the top two ranked teams in the nation (Brookhaven #1, Ridgewater #2) and the Lady Bears were defending their 2009 and 2008 National Titles.
Ridgewater claimed a 25-23 first set victory, but fell 21-25 and 23-25 in the following sets. The Lady Warriors of Ridgewater rallied to win the fourth set 25-21, setting the stage for a deciding fifth set. Despite trailing 1-7 and 8-12, Ridgewater maintained their composure and rallied to a 16-14 victory.
The Lady Warriors defeated #10 Montgomery College (Rockville, Md.) 25-14, 25-18, 25-23 in the quarter-finals and #3 Rock Valley College (Rockford, Ill.) 14-25, 25-16, 25-23, 26-24 in the semifinals to earn their place in the championship match.
Ridgewater team members Molly Hurrle (Kimball), Hannah Smith (Willmar), Macy McKay (Granite Falls) were named to the All-Tournament team. Emily Roelike (Belgrade) was named MVP of the 2010 National Tournament. The Ridgewater Warriors finish the 2010 season with a 34-4 record. The 2010 championship is the third for the volleyball program (2006, 2002).

Coach Joe Sussenguth Comments: "Throughout the season, Molly provided tremendous leadership, an uplifting attitude and had an outstanding offensive vision for our team. Her technique and skills are of All-American type and she always found ways to better the volleyball for our hitters. Molly has such a high volleyball IQ and we are extremely fortunate to have her as a part of our program."
