The Annandale branch of Great River Regional Library is offering the following programs in December.
Santa and Myself the Elf at the Library Ð Dec. 1
Santa and Myself the Elf will be at the Annandale library on Wednesday, Dec. 1, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Children up to 12 years old are invited to enjoy stories and holiday cheer. Bring your cameras! The attendance limit is 30 and preregistration is required.
Tea with Jerene Mortenson Ð Dec. 4
All ages are invited to enjoy a Tea with Jerene Mortenson at the Annandale library on Saturday, Dec. 4, 10 to 11 a.m. Jerene Mortenson is the mother of Greg Mortenson, author of "Three Cups of Tea: One man's mission to promote peace, one school at a time." Jerene will talk about her son's work in promoting peace in Afghanistan and Pakistan by building schools. "Three Cups of Tea," the book about those efforts, topped the New York Times Bestseller list. The Annandale Friends of the Library will host Jerene and provide her an honorarium that she will donate to the Central Asia Institute.
History of Carols Ð Dec. 14
All ages are invited to a History of Carols presentation at the Annandale library on Tuesday, Dec. 14, 10 to 11 a.m. The program will be presented by symphony musicians Rolf Erdahl and Carrie Vecchione as part of their Pages of Music educational outreach. Erdahl plays double bass and Vecchione plays oboe and English horn. Together, they will provide an entertaining program filled with original music, carols and stories of the season. They will also explore the history of one of the most beloved carols, "Silent Night." This program is funded in part with money from Minnesota's Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
