The seventh-grade volleyball team took their 10-0 record to Holdingford Saturday, Oct. 16, for their annual Central Minnesota Conference tournament with great anticipation of keeping their undefeated season rolling. The road would be tough, however, as they would open with Pierz, followed by Maple Lake, and close out the day with B-B-E.
The Cubs jumped on Pierz taking the first game 25-23 and then rolled through the second game easily with a 25-11 win to start the day. The second game found the Cubs facing a team that they had already twice defeated in regular season play. The Cubs got off to a slow start serving, and Maple Lake capitalized on that, and added to it with very good serving of their own. The Cubs battled in both the first and second games, but could not find a rhythm. They were defeated by scores of 25-15, 25-23. Their final match of the day was with a very good B-B-E team. The Cubs stayed close in each game, but ultimately would fall with game scores of 25-19 and 25-20. With those two losses, the Cubs' record stands at 11-2. We still have areas of the game to work on, and will continue to improve.
The Cubs will close out their regular season at home Tuesday, Oct. 19, against Howard Lake.
I would like to thank the team for their enthusiasm, hard work and dedication each and every day.
The team and I would like to thank all of the parents and fans for their support at our games. It takes a lot of effort on everyone's part to be successful.
