The fourth Kimball Hall of Fame induction will take place on Friday, Oct. 8, during halftime of the Eden Valley/Watkins-Kimball Football Game. The Induction will take place at halftime of the game with a reception to follow the game in the high school cafetorium.
The 2010 Class will induct five new members. They are: Karen Hendrickson (1987), Angela Provost Sandal (1969-1999), Ted Greely (1988), Norm Kunkel, (1984), and Frank Bennett (1961).
Karen Hendrickson: Karen is a 1987 graduate of Kimball High School and participated in softball, basketball and volleyball. Karen was all conference in all three sports. Karen lettered three times in softball, three times in volleyball and four times in basketball. Karen was on the first girls' basketball conference championship and on teams that were District 20 runners-up in both basketball and volleyball. She was also selected to the St. Cloud Times All Area Team. She graduated from St. Cloud State University with a degree in Recreational Therapy and currently lives in the Twin Cities.
Frank Bennett: Frank was a four-sport athlete at Kimball High School and graduated in 1961. He participated in football, basketball, baseball and track, earning all conference in all four sports. He was blessed to have many gifted athletes in his class resulting in a very successful senior year. In football they were co-champions of the Wright County Conference. In basketball they advanced to the District 19 championship game losing to Royalton who advanced to the state tournament. After high school, Frank was instrumental in organizing a Kimball independent basketball team called the "Road Runners". Frank attributed his success in the business world to the lessons he learned while participating in athletics at Kimball High School.
Norm Kunkel: Norm participated in football, basketball and baseball and graduated in 1984. Norm was a 1983 All-conference Central MN Conference selection in 1983 and was selected as the CMC most valuable defensive back. He was also St. Cloud Times Player of the Year and Associated Press All State Linebacker. After graduating from high school, Norm played football at Itasca Jr. College.
Ted Greely: Ted participated in football, wrestling and baseball and graduated in 1988. Ted was a three-time all-conference pick in 1985, '86, and '87. He was also selected to the 1985, '86, and '87 All Area Team. In 1985, '86, and '87, was selected as the most valuable defensive back in the Central MN Conference and was selected as All State in 1987. After graduating from high school in 1988, Ted played football for four years at University of MN Duluth.
Angela Provost: Angela Provost Sandal taught in Kimball for more than 30 years, from 1969-1999. Ms. Provost, as she was generally known in Kimball, led the Kimball High School drama program for many years and later established and sustained a speech team that was one of the most successful MSHSL speech programs in Central MN Conference for much of the 1980's and 1990's. Angela led Kimball to 10 Central MN Conference Championships, four District 20/Sub-Section Championships, two section 5A Runner-up and eight District 20/ Sub-section runners-up finishes. She had two state champions in her tenure: 1993 - Alissa Kuseske in Humorous, and in 1998 - John Steinmetz in Creative Expression. Angela Sandal was honored as Kimball's 1998 Teacher of the Year.
