Stearns County also to recognize Volunteer of the Year
Monday morning, April 26, Stearns County will begin its County Government Week activities. The event will run throughout the week, ending Friday, April 30.
The theme for this year's County Government Week is "Healthy Counties", and we plan to highlight some of the things County government does to keep our communities healthy.
Visitors to our Administration Center in downtown St. Cloud will have the opportunity to see how we keep our veterans healthy, how our parks play a role in keeping citizens healthy, the multitude of programs offered by our Public Health Division, and lastly, Environmental Services' role in providing a healthy community.
Booths, informational displays, hands-on activities and give-aways will be part of the activities in the Administration Center rotunda throughout the week.
Wednesday, April 28, visitors will have a chance to "plant a garden" to learn more about nutrition, "hula hoop to health" to understand the importance of physical activity and "Scrub-a-duba germ" to see the value of hand washing.
Tuesday, April 27, Stearns County will also recognize its Volunteer of the Year. Elda Ann Brink will receive her award at 9 a.m. at the Board of Commissioners Meeting.
Every year Stearns County participates in National County Government Week to raise public awareness and understanding about the roles and responsibilities of counties, to help people understand what county government does in their communities.
