Girl Scout troops 83 and 924 of Kimball attended Centuries in Progress Family Day at the Stearns History Museum Sunday, April 11.
Julie Bunkowski, a registered nurse from St. Cloud Hospital, talked to the girls about the history of incubators. Incubators were featured in the 1933 Chicago World's Fair "Centuries in Progress" using real premature babies. The girls held premature dolls showing them how small the babies are that use the incubators at the hospital. The girls asked questions and talked about their experiences with their family members using the incubators. The CentraCare Live Link III Helicopter was also a highlight of the day. They were able to look and sit inside the helicopter. The Girl Scouts were interested in how fast it could get to their town and how small it was inside. They learned how they can transport premature babies from one hospital to another.
