The Second Annual Volunteer Summit will be held from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Monday, April 19, at the St. Cloud Civic Center. Last year, more than 100 community members collaborated at the first summit in an effort to bring central Minnesota volunteering to the next level.
Last year's event spawned a grassroots group that has taken the energy and directives from the original summit to the next level of group organization. The For The Love of Haiti food packaging event was completed recently as a result. Also, an online tool that supports increasing the level of volunteerism and enhances volunteer experiences in our community has been created. Greg Vandal and Brian Myres are co-chairs of this volunteer initiative.
At the summit, participants will:
Review a short video and highlights of the work that has been accomplished so far
Witness the unveiling of a new community-wide online resource that supports all community members wanting to improve volunteerism
Network and brainstorm ideas with other community leaders both in and out of your industry-specialty area on how to further spread this effort into our community
Find ways that you, your organization, and others in the community can contribute to this effort and make an impact in the community
Support the planning of a community-wide volunteer effort this fall to set a Guinness Record for the Largest Volunteer Event in history
