Sixth-grade girls' basketball

By Tom Schreiner, coach

The Kimball Cubs Girls' sixth-grade basketball team has just passed the midway point of their 2010 season. The girls have put together a great season so far, with a record of 13-3.

Valentine's weekend was a busy weekend for the young Cubs. Saturday, Feb. 13, they traveled to Maple Lake to claim a pair of victories over Maple Lake and Eden Valley-Watkins. Sunday, Feb. 14, the Cubs were on the road to Litchfield for a tournament. The girls came away with a second-place finish with victories over Willmar, ACGC, and Litchfield before falling to St. Anastasia in the championship game.

The girls continue to improve each and every week they take court, and are looking for a strong finish the next two weeks as they travel to Holdingford for a tournament, and then Paynesville to complete their I-55 traveling league schedule. Kelli and I are very proud of the girls. They play aggressive defense, display great sportsmanship qualities on the court, and play well together as a team. Go Cubs!
